Working with officials from SheriffWebsites.com, Ottawa County Sheriff David Dean has launched a new website for his department. The website is part of a DEQ grant awarded to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
The new website has many features to help the Sheriff's Office communicate better with the community. It features an inmate search, sex offenders, press releases, community news, most wanted, and a tip section. We plan on improving the website over time to serve both our office and the community.
Additional features of the website include links to our commissary provider with information to set up an account, add funds to an inmate's account, and purchase commissary items or phone cards. The website includes the jail's mail policy, video visitation guidelines, and visitation provider information.
So often, time is spent on the phone assisting family members with commissary, web deposits, and visitation information. By providing this information on our website, we hope to reduce phone calls and visits to our office.
"We hope the citizens of this county will find this website useful. With the inmate lookup option, they will have access to look to see if someone is in jail. The commissary section is user-friendly and saves time by showing visitors what is needed to create an account with our commissary provider."
We also provide information on the county's Sheriff's sales. Visitors can see updated information on current properties and Ottawa County Sheriff's Sales requirements.
Currently, we use Facebook to address public service announcements. With the new website, citizens will have access to all the information in one place to reduce the need to call or visit the office.
